Indiana Bones

I've got to say I'm excited about the new Indiana Jones' movie that's coming out in May. When I was a kid, I used to dress up like Indy and create my own adventures. I even talked the neighborhood Vietnamese boy into being my 'Shortround." True. I must have gone through seven shirts the one summer because I kept ripping the right sleeves off of them. It was awesome. When the "Last Crusade" came out in 1989, I was a bit more mellow. I was older, so it didn't seem right to prance around the town with a purse, fedora, and bullwhip at my side. So I didn't. It was always Star Wars of Indiana Jones for me.

Well, the new one is comin out on the 22nd. I'll be one of the first people in line. I have no idea what the crowd is going to be like. To be honest, I can't see a lot of kids having much intrest in the movie. If I were young, the idea of a sixty-some year old man hanging on a whip wouldn't interest me. Like when I was a kid, all the oldies liked John Wayne. But, to me, he was so old and I had trouble relating with him. I never dressed up like John Wayne, but I'm sure kids back in the day did. Just as I'm sure kids in the forties dressed up like Clark Gable.

The thing that I do enjoy this time around is the promotion machine behind the film. It's nice to see Indy's face plastered everywhere. I see him on cereal boxes, candy bars, and commericals. Takes me back to my youth. The crazy thing that I've noticed is that if you look at any of the promotional stuff, you'll see a much younger Indy. It seems that the people said, "Hey, we're not going to plaster this old guy's face everywhere because it will depress the general public. Maybe we'll use the modern photo of Indy in a advertising campaign for our fine Depends product." So, almost magically, when you come across any of the merchandise today, it is the younger, prettier mid-thirties Indiana Jones.

Another reason that I'm enjoying the promotion is because I know this is it. There won't be anymore. Because I love Indiana Jones so much, I've got to take the time and breathe it all in. Enjoy this moment now because when it's gone, it's gone. I can't imagine another Indy movie after this one. To be honest, I thought it might be a better idea to have a new Indy take over the roll. You know, kind a make him into an American James Bond; maybe River Phoenix would have been awesome to succeed Harrison when it was time. That's if River hadn't had that drug problem. Eeeerrr.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the movie a great deal. It'll be a great summer season for me because two of my favorites are coming out: Indy and Batman. And Batman is so dark and awesome, it's gonna be hard to beat! If I drank anymore, I'd hold up a glass and toast these films. Yeah, I'm happy.

Let's just hope they don't suck.

Even though I am only 22, I definitely love the older movies. When I was younger, my brother, our friends, and I would act out scenes from some of the "older" movies. I love John Wayne, Harrison Ford, and Clark Gable flicks. I've always loved the classics. The classics actually have good plots as apposed to come of the ridiculous movies nowadays. I will also be one of the first people in line to see the new Indy movie. I hope you enjoy it!
